And *this* is exactly why maternity care that is family-led is so important. The way it is set up right now parents are encouraged to turn to others for answers because they don't trust themselves by the time the baby is 'due' - factual answers are not given to them nor are they encouraged to seek answers and they are given impossible challenges with misinformation and misdirection.
